Growing up as a young black girl in South West Atlanta, affectionately known as "SWATS," I always recognized that my opportunities were limitless. My childhood was vibrant with art, music, and culture, thanks to my parents who empowered my brother and me to express our creativity, even when it sparked chaos. As I chased my creative dreams, I confidently realized that conforming to societal expectations was never my path. The corporate world? Not for me. Traditional education? Absolutely not. I refuse to find peace in fitting society's “normal” because that label doesn’t define who I am. So why impose it on myself? I march to the beat of my drum.
